That’s a question for the ages that I’m not sure if anyone can answer. What I can tell you is what you expereinced first hand is if you over exert yourself and do doubles and not eat enough you will experience what you went through more often and run serious health risks. If you do decide to do doubles, you should consume more healthy calories (Fruits, veggies, lean proteins, and whole grains) for the simple reason your body is burning more calories.
Whether you choose to continue to do double is your choice but the food you put into your body is your choice also.
If weight loss is your number one goal, take a look at the program you are doing and adjust. If you continue with P90X and add more cardio, you need to add more calories. Don’t let your workout suffer because you aren’t giving your body what it needs to bring it.
