Throw Gasoline on a Fire

Have you ever thrown gasoline on a fire to get it started? What happens? You get a nice fast “explosion” but it fails to catch the wood on fire. Take the time to learn to build a fire that lasts. It may take a little longer but in the end it will keep you warmer longer.

The same analogy can be used when you are starting a Fitness program or building your Beachbody Coaching business.  In the beginning we are looking for quick and easy ways to get results like short cuts, tricks, magic pills or that one mystical combination we’ve been missing.  What we fail to realize is that the answers are right there in front of us. There is no such thing as a magic pill or over night success.  Monty Hall was quoted as saying,

“Actually, I’m an overnight success, but it took twenty years.”

We, the public, tend to fail and see that last part.  That 20 years of hard work, consistency, failure, rejection, obstacles, but with persistence, consistence and a determination to win shows that over night success.
Workout programs like P90X or INSANITY are not magic pills.  Just because you bought or borrowed the program will not automatically get you results.  You have to show up.  You have to push play. You have to follow the guide.  And here is the trick that many miss, you have to be consistent for 60 or 90 days. Don’t miss.  Don’t skip.  “Do your best and forget the rest“.  You just have to show up consistently.

Today we are looking for bigger, faster, stronger results, but with less work.  If you want something, set your sights on it, figure out the best way to get it and work consistently towards that goal.  The thing I love about the Beachbody workouts and Coach opportunity is that they have taken out all the guess work for you.  Whether you want to get into the best shape of your life, build an awesome buisness or both, Beachbody has proven plans that work if you are willing to apply them consistently.

I didn’t lose 49lbs in one night with Power 90 and P90X, and I didn’t scratch of a lottery ticket to buy my dream 2011 Chevy Camaro the next day.  I committed to the plan, I found others to help and support me and I achieved success and I continue to achieve success because I understand this very simple and straight forward principle:

“Don’t just learn the tricks of the trade. Learn the trade.” – Jame Bennis

So don’t learn to just throw gasoline on the fire.  Watch towards the end of the YouTube clip I posted.  In the beginning there is an awesome fireball and the wood seems to be catching but by the end of the video the fire is almost completely out.  Do you want to build a fire that last for a few seconds or something that burns forever?

Don’t look for the quick fix solution. It never lasts long term sort of like throwing gasosoline on a fire.
